News and verified status for Unreal Engine 6, Rocket League, and the engines they replace.

Briefing · Issue 001 · Requirements Updated 2026-05-25

Unreal Engine 6 system requirements: nothing official yet.

Epic has not published official Unreal Engine 6 system requirements. This page answers the questions people actually search — minimum specs, PC requirements, RAM, GPU, "can my PC run it" — using Epic's UE5 hardware specs as a baseline so you can plan, but not commit hardware decisions.

§01 · Quick Answer

Five questions, answered straight.

The short version, before the baseline tables.

If you searched… Short answer Best next step
What are UE6 system requirements? Not announced Use the UE5 baseline below
UE6 minimum requirements Not announced Don't trust specific guesses
UE6 PC requirements / specs Unknown Plan against UE5 only
Rocket League UE6 requirements Unknown Wait for Psyonix / Epic specs
Can my PC run UE6? Cannot be confirmed yet Compare against UE5 today
§02 · Official Status

No minimum spec. No recommendation.

Not Announced

Any "UE6 minimum spec" article is extrapolation, usually built on UE5 specs plus a guess.

§03 · UE5 Baseline

The only safe planning floor.

Epic's current UE5 hardware specs. Every UE6 cell is tagged, never asserted.

Area UE5 dev baseline UE5 play baseline Why it may matter for UE6 UE6
CPU 6+ cores (Ryzen 7 / Core i7) 4 cores acceptable UE6 stresses multithreading; core count may matter more Estimated
GPU RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT for Nanite+Lumen Mid-range (RTX 2060 / RX 5700) Rendering features drive the GPU floor Unknown
RAM 32 GB for editor 16 GB typical Larger projects/scenes raise editor RAM Estimated
VRAM 8-12 GB 8 GB common High-res assets + streaming Unknown
Storage SSD; engine 100+ GB SSD for streaming titles Install size + asset streaming Estimated
OS / API Win 10/11, macOS 13+, Linux; DX12 Win 10/11 most common Platform/API targets not confirmed Estimated

Every row is a UE5 baseline, not a UE6 confirmation. Do not buy hardware for UE6 on the strength of this table alone.

§04 · Minimum vs Recommended

Three words people mix up.

  • Minimum = it runs, not that it runs well.
  • Recommended = the official target experience — not a guarantee for every UE6 game.
  • Developer editor requirements are heavier than player requirements for a shipped game. A Rocket League UE6 spec (player side) is a different number from an Unreal Engine 6 editor spec (developer side).
§05 · Rocket League UE6

The player-side question.

Rocket League's move to Unreal Engine 6 is the reason most players are searching "UE6 system requirements" at all. But Psyonix and Epic have published no PC specs, no console target, and no performance-mode details for the migrated game.

Until a build exists, the things worth watching are not headline GPU numbers but: frame rate stability, input latency, physics consistency, and shader-compilation stutter. Those decide whether Rocket League UE6 "feels" the same, regardless of the spec sheet. See Rocket League on UE6 for the full player-impact tracking.

§06 · What Could Raise the Bar

A watchlist, not a prediction.

Area to watch Why users care Status
CPU threadingSimulation, physics, frame pacing Unknown
GPU renderingNanite / Lumen-style features Unknown
VRAMHigh-res assets, streaming Unknown
RAMEditor / project size Unknown
StorageInstall size, asset streaming Unknown
Shader compilationStutter risk Unknown
§07 · Do Not Upgrade Yet

Wait for these three signals.

1 · Epic Documentation

An Epic UE6 documentation release with minimum / recommended specs.

2 · Independent Benchmarks

Preview benchmarks on representative hardware.

3 · Psyonix Patch Notes

A Rocket League UE6 patch note that includes the play-side hardware envelope.

  • Player: wait for the first official UE6 game requirements.
  • Developer: buy for the UE5 projects you build today, not guessed UE6 specs.
  • Studio / IT buyer: wait for official Epic docs or a UE6 preview build.
§08 · How We Label Each Claim

Status, evidence, and who it affects.

The difference between this page and a guess: every line says what kind of statement it is.

Claim Status Evidence Impact

UE5 32 GB RAM dev baseline Confirmed Epic UE5 hardware docs Developer

§ FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01

What are the Unreal Engine 6 system requirements?

Epic has not published official Unreal Engine 6 system requirements. Until they do, the only honest baseline is Epic's current UE5 hardware specs, which this page lists as a planning floor — not a UE6 promise.

02

What are the UE6 minimum requirements?

No official minimum spec exists for UE6. Any article stating a specific UE6 minimum is extrapolating from UE5 plus a guess. Treat it as unconfirmed.

03

What are the recommended specs for Unreal Engine 6?

Not announced. As a planning reference only, UE5's recommended developer baseline is a modern 6+ core CPU, an RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT class GPU, and 32 GB RAM — UE6 may differ.

04

Can my PC run Unreal Engine 6?

It cannot be answered yet, because UE6 specs are not published. If your PC comfortably runs UE5 today, that is the best available signal — but it is not a guarantee for UE6.

05

Should I upgrade my PC for UE6 now?

No. With no official requirements and no preview benchmarks, upgrading specifically for UE6 is premature. Buy for the UE5 projects you build today, not for guessed UE6 specs.

06

Are UE6 requirements the same as UE5?

Unknown. UE6 emphasises engine-foundation and multithreading work, which could change CPU and memory needs, but Epic has confirmed no specific UE6 figures.

07

How much RAM will Unreal Engine 6 need?

No official figure. UE5's editor baseline is 32 GB recommended and 16 GB is common for play; UE6 RAM needs are not confirmed.

08

What GPU will UE6 require?

Not announced. UE5 features like Nanite and Lumen pushed developers toward RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT class cards; whether UE6 raises that bar is unconfirmed.

09

Will Rocket League UE6 require a stronger PC?

Unknown. Psyonix and Epic have not published Rocket League UE6 PC or console specs. Players should watch FPS, input latency and shader stutter once a build exists.

10

When will official UE6 system requirements be announced?

There is no announced date. Expect specs around an Epic UE6 documentation release, a public preview build, or a Rocket League UE6 patch note — this page is rechecked when those appear.
